You Won’t Be Able to Make Things Up This Time

Sarah Palin is playing out a brilliant cat and mouse game with the media. She tells Greta Van Susteren tonight that she has no obligation to do it the media's way. If she chooses to speak with reporters, it will be at times of her choosing. She wants reporters to dig – to do their homework – if they want to find out where she is going on her bus tour. She is making them do the work this time, playing a strategic game where she builds suspense and gets the media to focus on the who, what, where, when and why of her tour.

This would leave the media with little time to discuss (or should I say smear) her family since the family would be with her. Instead, she’s having fun with the press. She’s throwing them off guard rather than allowing them to throw her off guard. The relationship that Sarah Palin will have with the media will be on her terms from now on.

This is not a guarded strategy designed to micro manage the governor’s image to create a picture of someone who she is not. This is an open strategy designed to allow the governor to be who she really is. By forcing the media to stay focused on the facts in both what she says and where she goes, Palin leaves the media little room for fabrication.

Will they still fabricate? Of course they will. Are some in the media using this strategy as a way to use pretzel logic to push the idea that since she is not providing traditional access to the media that she will be unable to get the nomination because of that? Yes, but this is where they play into her hand.

Who are among this arrogant media that says she can’t get the nomination because she will not appear at press conferences of their choosing, appear on network shows of their choosing, be interviewed by people of their choosing or have people of their choosing ride on the bus with you? The trap is set. When those who pop their heads into the “scope” by trying to complain that Palin isn’t playing by the rules, they will be the first ones who will be spotted and framed as arrogant elites.

If this was a military campaign and strategists were leaning over a map of Obamaville to try to determine the best course of action, all fingers would be on the outer perimeter, a staunchly fortified ring of media people who make up the first line of defense in getting to Obama. Break through this line of defense and you win the presidency.

Rush Limbaugh: 'You're letting the media win with that outlook'

Limbaugh properly explains to Vinny from Queens why the media wins if we allow them to destroy Sarah Palin or stop her from running

In an unbelievable call that shows how in complete "sympatico" I am with Rush Limbaugh on why we must not allow the media stop Sarah Palin, Rush and a caller named Vinny from Queens had an incredible conversation Friday afternoon on Limbaugh's radio show. Rush said these things to Vinny:
What you basically said to me was, "The media has so thoroughly destroyed her, she doesn't have a chance."

[...]

...why are you gonna sit there and accept that?

[...]

Conventional wisdom inside the Republican Party is that she's not running. Now, I'll say this: If she's afraid to run, then the media terrorists have won.

[...]

And just think, now, how power-mad they're going to be if they decide they can destroy any candidate they choose -- and make no mistake here: Their objective is to keep her out of this race. Just, um... I don't know. Just in a -- what's the right way to say this? In a philosophical, real world sense, it just bothers me to hear people, anybody. It's not just Vinny; I've had a lot of people say this to me, and I've gotten into raised-voice arguments with people at my own dinner table over this, so much so that Kathryn pointed me to the door to leave.

People started telling me how stupid she was, Palin. I asked, "Why do you think she's stupid?" Everything they believe is a total product of what they've seen in the media. Therefore, people are willing to sit around and say, "Okay, media destroyed her. Too bad, she's gone." Yet we're supposedly sophisticated. We understand that's what the media's trying to do, and we're just saying, "Okay, they won. They won with Palin, fine." If that's it then don't ever call me again complaining about the media. If you're willing to let the media win in taking our people out, fine. Stop complaining about 'em. Stop complaining about 'em being liberal.
Rush landed every single point that I have been trying to make about the media and Sarah Palin. After I duct taped my head back together during the news break, Rush came back on and gave this phenomenal analysis of the discussion:
I am still thinking about the phone call we had with Vinny from Queens. I'm sorry, folks. I can't get past this. This is not aimed at Vinny, 'cause it's not just Vinny from whom I've heard this. I just can't get past this: "Rush, the media has destroyed her. There's no hope. She's damaged goods, and average, ordinary people who are not even paying attention yet still think she's an absolute goof. We don't have a prayer. We gotta move on." It just grates on me to acknowledge that kind of defeat. You may think it's just acknowledging reality, but it's defeat. 'Cause I was always under the impression here that one of our objectives is to not let the media do this to us.

Now, I know that a lot of people think that they're the only ones who know what the media has done to Sarah Palin. But odds are if Vinny from Queens sees that the media has launched this search-and-destroy mission on her, a lot of other people probably have, too. At some point the media smear of anybody peaks. They either get 'em out of office or they don't. In Nixon's case, he was gone. But Palin is enjoying life. She's got this bus tour. That's why I said on Greta's show last night, "Palin has learned to throw it right back at 'em." You've heard the old adage, the best revenge is success. She's earning a good living. She's living life as she chooses, where she chooses. They are as angry that they haven't forced her into an insane asylum as anything else.

At some point, folks, the smear of Palin has to peak. The smear of anybody has to peak. And the more people see her in relation to what they've heard from the media, the odds are more and more people are gonna realize they've been lied to. It's like when people meet me in person. Some of them are genuinely shocked. They're expecting me to be whatever they've heard the media portray me as. So at some point people are gonna realize the media has been lying about her. And I'm not making the case for it, because I don't know whether she's running. I'm not endorsing anybody right now. Vinny's not the first guy to say it, but when I hear people say, "The media's destroyed her, Rush, we gotta move on," it just bothers me. I thought that's what we're trying to prevent here along with many other things.
Rush nailed it.

The Liberal Myth of Sisyphus

If we were to link to all of the hit pieces that have been written about Sarah Palin and to all of the videos of pundits who have trashed her in the mainstream television news media, this post would be book length. But, what would really extend the length of such an article would be the number of rebuttals and refudiations of those hits. Since Palin hit the national scene in August 2008, a frenzy of the deranged has continued nearly non-stop. Yet, after all that, the latest Gallup poll shows Palin just two points behind Mitt Romney as the GOP choice for 2012.

It is the debunking of all myths and lies about Sarah Palin far and wide that is the real story here. We often hear of how the media treats her unfairly. But we never hear (of course) the full story of how every single lie, myth, vitriolic report or far fetched opinion of Sarah Palin has been completely and thoroughly obliterated by the more intellectually honest members of the media and by members of the Palin army in the blogosphere and throughout the social networks.

The tide of a raging river is a natural event. Trying to stop such a tide is a monumental task. If that tide ever slowed down to the point where it no longer had power, it would also happen as a result of natural occurrences. Although, there are many in the establishment who believe they can simply convince us that those laws of nature don’t apply.

It is Absurdist Theater to watch the deranged continue their Sisyphusian effort to paint over a blue sky, to hide the raging river from view and to perform the rhetorical gymnastics necessary to keep the public thinking bad things about Sarah Palin. In many ways, it’s sad to watch people not only deny reality but to lie about it. Yet, the silver lining in all of this is how Sarah Palin and those who fight the rhetorical battles on her behalf have become so skilled and so adept at handling everything that has been thrown at them.

Watching the Palin haters roll the rock up the hill only to have it roll back down on them has become comical. These Wile E. Coyotes of the media have proclaimed themselves elitist super geniuses. But eventually, we will hear the immortal words of the coyote after having all of his booby traps explode in his face: “Allow me to introduce myself. My name is mud.”

They timed the whole thing like a fireworks display. They fired and fired their rockets knowingly leading themselves into the finale where the big displays with the loudest booms would be the death blow to a Palin candidacy. With the hit books on her timed for release as candidates announce for 2012, their best shot, Blind Allegiance by Frank Bailey, appeared to be heading directly on target.

They didn’t expect that one to be shot out of the sky as easily as their past efforts. But, shot down it was by Sean Hannity and Adrienne Ross. Not only did it not result in taking out Palin, it was responded to with the execution of a lightning precision shock and awe campaign that must have liberals shaking in their boots.

Immediately following the release of the Bailey book, it was confirmed that Sarah Palin had bought a house in Arizona, was releasing a movie that would set her record straight as governor of Alaska and was embarking on a nationwide bus tour. Taste my nightstick? No. More like duck and cover.

Jeanne Devon has got to look like the Coyote right now, frazzled, burnt and demoralized after watching her effort go for naught, other than for a few bucks.

Sarah Palin stands triumphant after having been bombarded with the nastiest smear campaign ever launched against a political figure in history. That is a testament to her presidential mettle.

It’s not over yet, though. Levi Johnston’s book still hasn’t come out yet. Try not to laugh.

One Man's Story Does Not a Story Make

A movie chronicling Sarah Palin's political career in Alaska is being released. She is embarking on a bus tour of the United States. She is moving to Arizona to be more centrally located. The pieces are falling into place for a 2012 presidential run. Frank Bailey's book (as are all the other hit books and hit pieces) is becoming a non-starter in the final last gasp to take her down. Bailey's book is just one man's viewpoint. One man's story does not a story make.

Tara Jollie, also a former aide to Sarah Palin tells a completely different story. She tells Adrienne Ross:
I worked closely with Sarah usually on a daily basis. I worked primarily on policy statements, brainstorming issues and coordinated the occasional fundraiser. I helped in any other way I could. In the course of the daily work I soon discovered Sarah worked longer and harder than anyone I’ve ever worked with. I especially liked her work ethic because it mirrors my own. She is free-spirited, generous of heart, funny, spontaneous and, most importantly, fearless.
This is a far cry from Bailey's portrayal of Sarah Palin as a vindictive person more interested in her own fame than advancing the good of Alaska and now America.
Sarah, the person, is a workhorse. She is all about her family and very grounded in who she is. She is an athlete who plays to win. She has incredible charisma and touches the hearts of people. She is very intuitive, self-confident, and very, very strong. I think she is a great role model for young women everywhere. She is fearless, doesn’t back down, and calls a spade a spade.
Take it for how ever many grains of salt you might. If you don't agree with Jollie's story, than why should you agree with Frank Bailey's or vice verse?

We all know what opinions are like. Now let's give Sarah Palin a fair shake and forget all the nonsense that's been going on since 2008. Let her run and let's see if she has what it takes.

I'll bet you a house, a movie and a bus that she knows what she's doing.

Don't Talk to Strangers

They’re only there to do you harm.

On the day that Frank Bailey betrays his old boss for a few pieces of silver, word comes out through the Daily Caller that top Palin aide Rebecca Mansour trusted a so called Palin supporter enough to speak freely through Twitter’s direct messaging service. Little did Mansour know that the loose cannon would look to shop a copy of these DMs first to Politico, which actually did the right thing and ignored the story and then to the Daily Caller, which instantly earned the monicker “Enquirer of the Right” from Stephen Kruiser for printing them.

In Palin’s case, she trusted Bailey to keep her confidence. Technically not a stranger, he turned out to be one when she realized after the fact that he was ethically challenged both while in office and now out of it. As for Mansour, she confided in a stranger who supposedly became a friend that she could trust on Twitter. It leaves one to wonder are we really ever off the record?

Those on stage are the hard working “actors.” They are the doers of life. They are the ones who put their tails on the line while most of us sit around doing nothing except whining and complaining about things. It’s the ones who take the short cut to fame or fortune through their bad deeds at the expense of others that causes the rest of us to wonder what the incentive is if no one is worth trusting.

New money is always earned through great personal sacrifice. When you see successful people, most of them have hardship stories that you wouldn’t believe. You look at them and think it was easy. It wasn’t. Yes, some people get lucky, but the odds of becoming successful only go up if you really go after it.

A common thread found in successful people is that they are all told they can never do it. They are criticized. They’re hindered by roadblocks and obstacles. Those obstacles are the regular day cogs in the wheels of life. You know who they are. They hog the left hand lane. They chatter with the register clerk while the line grows behind them. They betray confidences when they see an opportunity to sell their soul at the expense of another.
People are jealous. They also look for the easy way out.

People who are miserable with themselves or looking for the quick fix are incapable of becoming successful. They can only justify their position in life by tearing others down. A miserable person or one who cheats to get their way prefers to live in a world where others are like them. When their friends or family members are on their way to becoming successful, they try to pull them down. Watch crabs in a bucket. One tries to get out the top and the others cling on hoping to pull it back in.

What is being revealed about Sarah Palin is designed to raise questions in the minds of those considering her for president. The establishment on both sides of the aisle want nothing more than to stop her. They can’t afford to leave it to a natural course because they know its very possible that she can make it. They are afraid she won’t fail on her own, so they have to help her fail.

The media’s goal is not to pursue the truth. The media’s goal is to plant a seed of doubt into the heads of voters. They don’t want Sarah Palin to be president. There is a boiling bubbling sea of sludge beneath the stages of both national parties. If she is given access to that, she just might expose it. Look at what she did in Alaska.

Should the intricate web of corruption, cronyism, deal making and back stabbing ever be exposed, it would shake our society to its very soul. Some fear the damage would be too great to risk electing someone who would flip the tables and show us the real system that we have now in America. That system resembles nothing like that warm fuzzy democracy thing we learned about in school.

For the establishment on both sides, the maggots that eat at the core of our Republic’s apple must stay there unseen. Allowing Palin to cut away at the apple and reveal the maggots to the American people would be, in their minds, too startling a revelation for the people to handle. The elites fear we can’t face the truth.

Yet, the truth will set us free. Only by pulling the string that unravels the sweater of a corrupt system can we ever rebuild this thing the way it was supposed to be. Our Founders had a vision of a society where everyone would succeed or fail based on their merits or shortcomings. Before the implementation of the welfare state, failure was temporary. It was a learning experience from which you were supposed to move forward. Today, failure is institutionalized. Failure is the new norm in Obama’s America where only government can help us. We are brainwashed into thinking we need to be dependant.

We may find from Bailey’s book that Sarah Palin has pushed people to the side in what appears to be a quest for fame and fortune. Or we may find that she’s really just in a hurry to save her country and people like Bailey who just don’t understand that can’t be kept on the chain because of the weight. What if it’s true that in order to become successful, you can’t burden yourself with failures? Then she’s right. The honest question here becomes is Sarah Palin just using people to get what she wants or is she shedding those who can’t help her save the country?

No one can be a mind reader or guess what’s in the heart of a person. You can’t begrudge someone from striving to achieve a noble goal. You can’t begrudge someone who has been burnt in the past. With Palin’s naivety purged by her life experience, the existential fact is that there will be cold moments when people will be frosted out. The political environment which shaped Palin in Alaska was brutal. She learned a ruthless game that she had no choice but to play lest she lose the opportunity to win it in order to change the rules.

Surely, Sarah Palin can take her millions and go live on a tropical island somewhere. I, a lesser man, would probably be more inclined to do that. But unlike the miserable people of the world who have to tear down the fiber of positive life, I want my country to be a better place. I strive to be a better person. I know it’s a shortcoming of mine that making enough money to retire early and protect my little world is my personal goal. But that goal (or maybe the personal growth that I achieve through attaining that goal) is only possible in a country that is led by great people.

Some of us deserve to have money, not because we are entitled to it, but because we earned it. Knowing how much crap I’ve had to deal with in life, if someone handed me a check for a million dollars tomorrow, I’d feel as if I earned every dime of that money. And, Sarah Palin ought to feel the same about the money she has earned and continues to earn now.

Do we really want her to be our president? It’s a self interest for all of us if the hybrid socialist crony-capitalist system we live under now was brought down and a free market, pro family system rose from the ashes to take its place. So if her emails to Bailey show that she is an ambitious person who is impatient with the people around her, what makes her any different from the rest of us?

That’s why we all need to learn to keep it closer to the vest. The wolf could be behind any door. Sarah Palin learned her lesson during her governorship and run for the vice presidency. Rebecca Mansour is learning it now. It makes them stronger people. Know who to trust. Trust but verify. And, don’t talk to strangers.

How to Get Elephants to Fight in the Green Room

An article that was just released by the liberal New York Magazine takes shots at Roger Ailes, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, other Republicans and several potential GOP presidential candidates. It cites unnamed sources to claim Roger Ailes said certain things which would damage him in the eyes of Republicans and conservatives. The subtitle reads "The circus Roger Ailes created at Fox News made his network $900 million last year. But it may have lost him something more important: the next election." It should read "okay Republicans start fighting with each other."

It's the intention of the article to create disharmony within the Republican Party. By throwing mud at Fox News chairman Roger Ailes and focusing on an alleged feud with Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck, Gabriel Sherman paints a picture of the head of Fox News as someone who wants to elect the next Republican president but who doesn't want anyone to think Fox News is an arm of the Republican Party. By painting Sarah Palin as "stupid," it plays on the worn out meme started by the liberal media in 2008 after Sarah Palin scared the daylights out of them with her RNC speech. Hours of insightful answers by Palin were boiled down to what newspapers she reads and how she could see Russia from her house - the former, a human misstep and the latter a flat out lie.

The attempts to destroy Palin after her 2008 RNC speech weren't as obvious to the unsuspecting victim (watchers and readers of mainstream news outlets). The attempts to destroy Palin leading into 2012 are nothing less than a metaphorical attempted political slaying out in the open.

She lives.

The New York Magazine article uses a classic technique, one which was used in fact by a former boss of mine. By keeping the employees at each others' throats, he was able to distract them from the fact that he was cheating them out of credit for accounts they were responsible for and the overall fact that he was in an ineffective leader. It would serve the liberal cause well if Americans watched conservatives and Republicans eat each other over comments quoted by unnamed sources.

It generated this first shot of acrimony from Anthony Martin (h/t @THIZDUDE_THINKZ):
And if he did, indeed, refer to Palin as stupid, then such a comment speaks volumes about the character of the man. Palin is nobody's fool. America loves her. Her massive crowds at speaches and book signings prove it.
It's a crafty piece. The average moron will read it and come away thinking Palin is an idiot, Fox News is an arm of the Republican Party and the GOP has no candidate capable of defeating Obama in 2012. Good job, New York Magazine. We will now get to find out if it works, if America is that stupid.

It's been a pattern that hit pieces against Republicans, conservatives, the Tea Party and Sarah Palin come out on a Monday. Everyone goes back to work on the most miserable, negative day of the week and they're hit with, well, misery and negativity.

Marginalizing the Mainstream Media

I've been right about Sarah Palin all along.

Early in 2009 while still stinging from the 2008 presidential defeat, I wrote a page that I refer to from time to time called the Fight For the Right Page. I've changed it very little and only in ways where I added material to support my original thoughts. The fundamental gist of the page has not changed since Sarah Palin was governor of Alaska even though I added quotes from her post resignation Hong Kong speech to better articulate my view of liberalism and conservatism. When I read it now, it warms my heart to see how much of what I believed needed to be done to bring the conservative movement up to speed has been done and is being done now.

When I wrote about infiltrating the pop culture, using the Internet and turning the Alinsky tables on the Left, I meant it more for writers, bloggers and political strategists. I never in my wildest dreams thought that Sarah Palin, who probably hasn't read the page, would be the ultimate executioner of what I wrote.

Today, the foremost authority on how to handle the media is the one person who was burned by it. Sarah Palin has worked hard at toning and conditioning herself to take on this once unbeatable beast. Today, she owns them. She towers over the media the way they towered over her nearly three years ago.

Sarah Palin was something special in 2008. But if you thought she was good back then, just take a look at her now. She is a behemoth.

The strategy for winning in 2012 is twofold. The first perimeter we must breach is the mainstream media. They have formed a wall around Obama, refusing to cover his missteps and his radical associations while creating false memes about conservatives, the Tea Party and Sarah Palin. Break through this line of defense, and despite his billion dollar campaign, the campaign fight will be fair. Beat him this way and we take the board back and put the grown ups back in charge.

Sarah Palin laid out exactly how to do that last night on Hannity:
There's got to be the preparation on all the candidates' parts for those gotchas. That's what the lamestream media's known for now a days, it's the gotcha trip up questions and you just have to be prepared for it and overcome it.

[...]

Well, I think to start with, we ignore some of these reporters and their requests for us to comment and be interviewed. We know going into what they are going to do to us, to a conservative. So, why participate in their game?

Instead, candidates need to get their message out via the new social media, be a fair and balanced reporters who will just allow the facts to get out there. Don't even participate in that goofy game that has been played now for too many years with the leftist lamestream media trying to twist the candidates' words and intent and content of their statements.
One reason why Sarah Palin should be the Republican nominee is because there is no one who has a better way or a stronger motive for beating the mainstream media than Sarah Palin does.

If you go as far as to even believe the media that Sarah Palin wasn't ready for prime time in 2008, it only makes our argument stronger. How is it possible that a ditz who can see Russia from her house who was over $500,000 in debt and left her job as governor amidst rapid fire ethics complaints turned out to be a millionaire today, a top contender for the Republican nomination, a media analyst, an accomplished author, a highly sought after public speaker and referred to by people in her political party as a kingmaker whose endorsement is worth gold?

There are a lot of people out there that still don't believe it yet. I knew it on August 29, 2008. I knew this was going to happen. I told you this was going to happen. Do you remember when I referred to her as an evolving candidate and not a snapshot in time? I may not be able to guess whether or not Sarah is running for president. I may not be able to predict her next moves. But I always knew she was our next great one.

Why Sarah Palin?

More Impatience of the Palin Army and the Wisdom of Sarah

That "draft" you feel is because the door is wide open.

Some of the candidates and potential candidates are stumbling out of the gate. Two big names, Huckabee and Trump, have withdrawn their names. The GOP establishment is trying to play up Romney and Huntsman while hoping all along that maybe Mitch Daniels could be their answer as an establishment guy who comes off conservative. Off in the distance you’re starting to hear something. Listen closely, it sounds like “run, Sarah, run.”

It’s been a rocky start to the Republican presidential primary season. Sarah Palin watches as active and potential candidates stumble over their tongues and their records. She’s not even in the race and her potential opponents are opening the door wider for her by either withdrawing, making verbal gaffes or having decisions from their past time out poorly with the issues of today.

The media has been very careful about her as well. A lot of the commentary the past week or so has been broader based. Analysts still give their take, but they don’t focus strictly on her. Some don’t want to play her up against the rest of the field. Others don’t want to jinx her. Instead, they talk about her in context rather than lavish her with praise or, surprisingly, level her with vitriol.

There are signs that the media are waking up to the fact that the trashing of Sarah Palin no longer goes unanswered. Palin’s army responds like lightning in the new media and on talk radio to any sleight. This is not to say the media has changed their opinion of her. It just means that should she decide to run, they won’t have free shots at a moose in the open like they did in 2008.

The new media is where things will happen for Palin. Already, the Palin army is making it known across the Palinosphere that they want her to run and they want her to run now. A quick read of Josh Painter’s Quotes of the Day from May 16, 2011 will give you a sense of the mood. How much longer do you think the Palin army can keep the powder dry? It’s almost as if they will run her for president even if she says no.

Palin’s followers are devoutly respectful toward her. They don’t like to tell Sarah what to do because in the early days when they did that, Sarah always did something else and surprised them because it always turned out better than they expected. Her army would read her reasoning and then smack themselves in the head after realizing that she went outside the box again and it worked.

Ever since she resigned, this writer realized there is no way to guess her next move. I’m simply a mere mortal. That day, someone at the beach asked me what to make out of her resignation. I told them only Sarah knows the answer. When I read her Facebook note the next day where she asked us to trust her, that’s the day I ripped up the Poli Sci degree and threw out the textbook.

We must trust her, as we've trusted her in the past, that she knows exactly what she's doing. When I asked Jedediah Bila about it she said "If Sarah Palin plans to make a run for it, she will undoubtedly take her time and do it right."

Palin sits to the right of the dealer at the Texas Hold ‘em table. From there, she can wait to see who folds, who checks and who bets. No one can get a read on her. There is no tell.

Palin followers always whispered to each other in email chains or private messages. Will she do this? Will she do that? Everything was hush hush lest it screw up her strategy or give the mainstream media fodder to go after her. But now, we’re just talking wide open right out in front of her.

All this chatter about doors being blown wide open and the lay of the land looking like she told us it would have to look in order for her to run is happening right in front of her. She reads Twitter. She reads Conservatives4Palin and other websites. She must be laughing, thinking that we don’t see her in the room. I expect her to turn around and say “I hear you talking about me running and I will tell you when I tell you.”

During the Miller – Murkowski primary when it was too close to call, the Palin army was on Twitter going back and forth. There were a bunch of them going after Murkowski, the establishment and the precincts where the votes were being counted. It was as if there was a melee in the room and suddenly someone whistled real loud. “Keep your powder dry,” Palin tweeted and suddenly things were calm again. She sees us. She knows we’re here.

Rumors are flying around like crazy. Some are saying it’s a lock she’ll run. Others are saying she’s not going to run. You can feel it in her army. They are itching to go. They are making no bones about it, either. Sarah sees this. Sarah knows this.

We are seeing a metaphorical gathering of a crowd of people forming on Palin’s cyber front lawn. Soon there may be thousands tweeting her, Facebooking her and writing blogs calling on her to run. At some point someone somewhere is going to look her in the eyes and say “we need you, you’re our only hope.”

It’s a huge request. The presidency is a life changing experience. If Sarah Palin is willing to take that on, so is her army. They’re not afraid. Politically, if they die they die. It’s Sarah Palin or bust in 2012.

We Are a European Style Socialist Democracy

Progressives have succeeded in implementing stage one of their plan. We are now a European style socialist democracy.

According to Randall Hoven at American Thinker:
We are already a "European" country. In fact, we are more European than Switzerland and Luxembourg. We are to the European side of our English-speaking cousins of Australia, New Zealand and Canada. If we are anti-Obama because we don't want to be like Europe, that horse has already left the barn.
I'm not one to get into conspiracy theories, but all the signs are there that this is stage one of a two stage plan. The first step is to prepare America for the transition by getting them to resemble the European Social Democracies so that it can then by treaty and through the U.N. informally give up its sovereignty and become more in line with a global redistribution of wealth - which is the second step.

Most of what has been happening to our country is occurring because of our inaction, rather than as the result of a grand scheme being played out in a central command with puppet masters pulling strings. There is a Utopian philosophy and a vision that the Left and the progressive movement have about our country. It does include world peace through global initiative (the surrendering of sovereignty) and the levelling of the playing field between rich and poor, which would be done more by bringing down the rich than elevating the poor. With nothing to compete with or debunk this vision, the world will head toward some type of a new world order, whether we want to believe it will happen as a result of a conspiracy or we want to believe it will happen incrementally. The fact of the matter is it is happening now and has been for awhile.

Obama's election was the wake up call that got many of us to see this. But it has been going on for decades, possibly even as long as a century. Look back over the last hundred years and see if this movement toward socialism correlates with the growing number of liberals and progressives who have gained power during that time.

We can only reverse the course and return to a society that values individual Liberty and American exceptionalism if we elect true conservatives. We must know who these people are and support them, whether it be for election to Congress or the presidency. We, also, must speak out and make our voices heard in the new media and in the pop culture. There is a lot of work to do. But it must be done.

Huckabee Supporters: Here's a Good Candidate

Mike Huckabee has announced he is not running for president in 2012.

I can feel for the supporters who have been true to his army. I can relate to that. I am true to mine.

So, with nothing other than the obvious political implications of a "merger" to offer you good patriotic Americans who are conservatives, we welcome you to join us in returning to that city on a hill where we can make it shine again.

We think you will like our candidate. She's a strong conservative, a candidate that agrees well with your kind of people who were courageous enough and willing to stand behind their guy. I am always impressed by people who support their candidate rather than tear down another's or, even worse, put one down when they still don't have a horse of their own yet.

We would like to add some class to the room, so Huckabee folks, come on in. The water's warm here.

Besides, don't tell my Palin friends. I watch Huckabee on Fox and really like the show, especially when he plays the bass.

Palin Hit Parade is a Bust So Far

-cross posted at Unsheathed

When the 2008 presidential campaign ended, liberals may have been celebrating their victory, but deep down inside they trembled with fear that the phenomenon known as Sarah Palin would come back and take down their beloved Barack Obama in 2012. They hoped to beat her into obscurity with lies, innuendos, hit pieces across the mainstream media and frivolous ethics complaints. Instead, they made her stronger by conditioning her with their vitriol and mockery. The culmination of that failed effort to destroy her is here with the release of four books, the first two or three which already look like duds.

These books are timed to come out just as candidates are announcing their presidential bids for 2012. The intent is obvious, if not laughable. If Sarah Palin was the ethically challenged lightweight that they are trying to convince us she is, people with normal brains would have figured that out already. There would be no need for Geoffrey Dunn, Frank Bailey with the help of mud-lapper Jeanne Devon, Joe McGinness or Levi Johnston to even bother making anything up. The truth makes its own gravy. Only lies require artificial color and flavor.

Geoffrey Dunn’s lies, The Lies of Sarah Palin, was trashed by a liberal Huffington Post writer in the Christian Science Monitor. Kelly Nuxoll writes (h/t Texas4Palin):
It seems that everyone has something to say about Palin, not least Geoffrey Dunn, an investigative reporter and Huffington Post contributor who has regurgitated the political bile of the last two election cycles in 400-plus pages of unsubstantial but toxic prose. “The Lies of Sarah Palin” is an extended ad hominem attack with little fresh information, analysis, or insight. Readers sympathetic to Palin will likely find that Dunn’s dismissive tone confirms the worst characterizations of left-leaning media. Readers not sympathetic to Palin may find that Dunn’s argument misses the mark.

His indignation might be more persuasive if he offered new or compelling information for his charges; however, the bulk of his case against Palin is built out of conversations with people who don’t like her. The result doesn’t feel so much like rigorous reporting as a transcript of the seventh grade.
Frank Bailey’s book Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin has made him the subject of an ethics complaint and an attorney general investigation. "The Alaska attorney general's office says it's investigating a charge that former Sarah Palin aide Frank Bailey wrongfully used state emails as the basis for his coming book slamming the ex-governor.," according to the Anchorage Daily News (h/t Lori Calabrese at US4Palin). How fitting that Jeanne Devon would be accomplice to such a violation if he was ever charged or convicted because of it.

Levi Johnston’s book is expected to end up in the children’s fiction section of the library. The mere fact that the Left would even drag this dwebe out to do their dirty work is indicative of a desperation streak that the liberals have demonstrated throughout the nearly three years since Palin hit the trail for the McCain campaign. Suffice it to say, if the Right had some bitter kid with an axe to grind over a lost love who was the poster child for how not to self improve, they wouldn’t be stupid enough to use him on Obama if the roles were reversed.

Speculation on Joe McGinniss’ book is that it will also be seen as a partisan hit piece from an aging writer well past his prime.

Rational people will see through the garbage on bookstore shelves. Regardless of their political beliefs, agree or disagree with Palin, most good hearted people who don’t have self-esteem issues will be skeptical of anything these "writers" have to say. The days of “oh my God, could it be true?” are behind us now as thousands of hit pieces lay in the garbage or in cesspools after people found better use of them than for reading. Every hit piece put out has been thoroughly debunked to the point where they are either forgotten or clung to by bitter lefties who wouldn’t know what to do with a Bible or a gun if they had one.

So for those Palin supporters who fear what might be in these books, fear not. The Left and the media have dug so deeply through the Palin’s trash that if there was something there, they would have already found it. For those who hate her, keep on hating. But, you will find yourself disappointed that these hit books will do nothing more to help your case other than to maybe piss off enough conservatives to vote for her for president so that the you get the best crow on the menu come inauguration day.

It makes sense that Geoffrey Dunn would write a book. He has no credibility to begin with. Why Frank Bailey would risk the scrutiny of the Attorney General's office is another thing. Levi Johnston furthers his spiral down the toilet bowl of life. Then you have Joe McGinniss who chooses to spend his later years destroying all the credibility he once worked so hard to establish. All of this says a lot for how Sarah Palin forces the devil to reveal himself in the burning red eyes of his mouthpieces. If Linda Blair’s green puke from the Exorcist could be put into words, you will find it on the pages of these sad, pathetic people’s books.

Reality Show Politics and the American Idol Presidency

Media technology has come a long way. We communicate instantly now by text message or on social networking sites. We watch television shows whose outcomes can be decided because they allow the viewing public to vote for those outcomes. Our culture is shaped by not only what we see on television, but what we see on line as well. What the public chooses to watch can either be helpful to their understanding of facts and current events or it could be an issue of "junk in junk out."

Political candidates are turning to the new media to get their message out. By interacting with voters through blogs and social networking, candidates can communicate with a greater number of people in a shorter amount of time. But who are they communicating with?

Many people on line are not political junkies. They go to the web to read about sports, Hollywood celebrities, reality television shows, the hottest fashions of the day, dating and humor. This is fine when you have a “balanced diet” of news and entertainment. But how do political candidates communicate with people who are just too pop culture and not enough news?

Many of these people have already been geared this way by the old media. They are products of the MTV and Entertainment Tonight generation. They know more about Howard Stern and Mike “The Situation” Torrentino than they do about Rick Santorum or Charles Krauthammer.

Those who are passive receptors of what the media pours into their heads think that Barack Obama is the most intelligent man to ever be president, Sarah Palin can see Russia from her house and Oprah Winfrey has all the answers to our social woes. Obama is the poster child for the American Idol presidency because he was a pop culture phenomena as much as he was a political candidate.

Many who voted for Obama couldn’t tell you the difference between a stimulus and a bailout, whether rich people still pay more of a percentage of their income in taxes than poorer people or the underlying factors behind the financial crisis of 2008. Surveys of teens show many of them didn’t know who Osama bin Laden was or that they were Googling him to find out. But they know who Justin Bieber is.

These passive American sponges will tell you that Obama is a smart guy because that’s what they’ve been told by the media. When oil prices spiked under George W. Bush, the media demonized him. Today, they cover up for Obama. They whitewash the unemployment numbers and ignore inflation. If the pop culture generation of today didn’t have to buy food and gas, they’d never know. The media stenographers run block for Obama.

Political consultants are picking up on this. During the vice presidential debate in 2008, Sarah Palin winked at the audience. President Obama is sometimes shown playing basketball. These things are not accidents. These things are more interesting to the pop culture junkie than pie charts, graphs and endless numbers that are used to get into the details of our national budget. The problem with politics is its more like broccoli than it is chocolate ice cream.

For progressives, Obama fit the suit. It didn’t matter if Obama had no experience or if his ideas would hurt the country. He could read off a teleprompter as well as Chris Daughtry could sing so they voted him in.

The 2008 campaign was more like a soap opera and less like, well, a political campaign. The manipulative characters behind the scene were constantly framing the Republicans as the party of Bush, portraying John McCain as an angry old man and distracting people from the issues by focusing on Sarah Palin’s wardrobe, looks and family problems. They were able to keep the public’s attention long enough to dupe them into voting for a caricature rather than voting for an actual guy.

Even after Palin returned to the governor’s office, the catty women of Alaska manufactured ways to sabotage her life. They filed frivolous ethics complaints and propped her up as a tabloid queen. Think about the aftermath of 2008. Was it more "The Days of Ours Lives" or more C-Span? You decide.

Today, we are witnessing the political version of The Jersey Shore on the Republican side. The people are ginned up by the flavor of the day. Who’s hot today? First it was Ron Paul, then Mike Pence and then Chris Christie. Donald Trump just had his fifteen minutes and now it’s Herman Cain’s turn. There is nothing wrong with hearing what all the candidates have to say, but getting drunk with ideological adoration and promiscuously jumping from candidate to candidate is just a little too politically slutty for me.

Maybe we should put them all on an island somewhere and let them vote each other off. Or, maybe we should create March madness brackets for them and just have everyone vote in each round. They could go on Dancing with the Stars or American Idol. One thing is certain – more people will listen to what they have to say if they sing and dance it.

Call it cynicism if you will, but it’s reality. Listen to a Hannity “Man on the Street” or watch Leno’s “Jay-walking” and tell me if you’re comfortable with these people going into a voting booth. Yeah, this is America and they can’t be denied that right. We’ve tried to get them to research the candidates, but they get bored and start surfing Maxim or E!Hollywood. What do we have to do to get these young people to understand the issues and the candidates better, put the contenders in bathing suits at the debates and have them sit in dunk tanks?

American politics is not the place for Gimmicks. But with the way the direction of our culture is headed, craft is king. The GOP candidate who runs in 2012 is going to have to be a lightning rod, a character and a bit unconventional. In the race for the presidency, the candidate who demonizes the other candidate in a more entertaining way will win. They can talk about the deficit all they want, but the first one who grabs the mic and belts out a strong rendition of "We Will Rock You" will probably get a boost in the polls regardless of whether they are a socialist, a right wing extremist or a RINO.

So what can we do to hide the candidate who can save America in a good enough monkey suit so that the nation will buy it?

The Powerful Servant

If you were given great powers and could use those powers to revive and restore a nation, could you do it without being corrupted by the power structure that you would need to navigate to make that happen? This question must be answered before considering America’s next step. We have tried all types of leadership and management styles and we are broke. We will need to reach out for a different style of leadership. We need to look at electing someone who can be a powerful servant.

The image of a servant is that of a lowly person who takes care of the petty needs of people with much higher status. But a real servant is a person of any status who serves other people whether it is simply by helping someone in the neighborhood get food or by devoting their life to charity. What if a servant had all of the powers of the president of the United States and was able to use those powers to help our nation and our people back to greatness?

A powerful servant could resist the forces of corruption and work in the best interest of the people and the Constitution. It would be a hard fight, but one worth fighting and one for which rewards for the results would not be seen until later when everyone could look back and see that it worked. A powerful servant would use the power to turn our country around and, yes, rock some boats in the process. But we as a nation will be better off for it. We will turn from our high spending ways. We will remove the bureaucratic burden of the federal government. And, we will liberate people from the slavery of entitlement programs.

Across the political spectrum, we have seen good people consumed by the elixir of power. The corrupting forces of power don’t manifest themselves in a handshake with the devil before taking office and lavishing yourself with the trappings that come from one’s position. They start with a little deal. They start with agreeing to give a friend’s family member a job with the highway department because the friend supports a morally upright objective one may have.

Yes, it may seem harmless that you can get a school built or create jobs because you zoned a particular area the right way with a little reward to friends that doesn’t really hurt anybody. But this multiplies exponentially and eventually corrupts into cronyism. Human nature can be good, but it is easily corruptible by forces that hide in our blind spots or by things that we’re simply not aware of. Satan doesn’t knock on your door and do a sales presentation so he can get your soul. He hides in the existential fact that human beings don’t have a crystal ball that sees into the future so we can determine what the consequences of our actions may be.
Although we can never have enough information when making decisions to be 100% sure that there will be no collateral damage from action taken, the most virtuous among us work hard at gathering the most information they can so that, with reliance on history and Divine Providence as their guide, they can execute their decisions most effectively. The least virtuous among us take the easy way out and apply complex solutions to simple problems to cover up this shortcoming. Those in the middle between virtue and lack thereof usually become politicians.

Many politicians are good people. Some of these good people get caught up in bad situations. But the reason why the world’s second oldest profession closely resembles the first is because we have collectively accepted a false notion that it always has to be that way. We have been conditioned by our society to not rock the boat. We often hear the platitude “people don’t like change.” We are operating on false assumptions.

Success requires that we think outside the box and look for solutions and strategies that we often cast aside or neglect out of ignorance or fear. We would rather take the safe way and borrow a few trillion dollars to keep our government afloat than risk an outcome that is unknown. The theory that reducing government services would cast people into poverty is a myth. We fear that myth and are frozen into inaction or gridlocked by disagreement because of it.

The stimulus program was designed to save jobs. It did, in 2009. Now that the stimulus money is gone, states are cutting everything they can. The Federal Government gave them methadone and now they’ve run out. Government payrolls decreased by 24,000 last month. Last year, state and local governments lost over 100,000 jobs. That’s hundreds of billions of dollars flushed down the toilet to delay the inevitable. That's bad government. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Since 2008, we have been taking a drug addict and trying to ease it off the drugs by giving it more drugs. That patient needed to go cold turkey then. We’d probably already be headed into recovery by now if we let the market clean things up instead of using big dollar bailout and stimulus programs that have done nothing but drain our treasury and lead us toward insolvency.

The time is now that we elect a leader who will be a powerful servant, not a servant of the powerful. Our Constitution protects individual liberties. It doesn’t promote cronyism, it promotes the general welfare. The general welfare is promoted when we are self regulated and not government regulated. The general welfare is promoted when our leaders give us a hand up instead of a hand out.

If we have social services and federal programs that are designed for the so called good but have no basis in the Constitution, it means those programs are supposed to be handled by the states and the people. Massive government cuts would end the redistribution of wealth and create a redistribution of responsibilities. It would create vacuums where the private sector, the states and the individuals could step up and take more local control over solving their problems. If we reform Social Security and Medicare, the same can happen.

Only a powerful servant can make this happen. If someone is beholden to the Washington way, it will never work. We will go bankrupt. America as we know it would be gone.

Normally, one shouldn't need a title or a high position in government to be successful or powerful in a free society and a free market. But for this one time, we will need someone to have the title of Madame President in order to fix it to the way it should be. We will need someone with the power of a president and the heart of a servant. Then we can get to being exceptional and free again.

We are Americans first and it's still the economy, stupid

Don't go closing those PACs and exploratory committees quite so fast, Republican candidates. Yes, President Obama did good and he will get a bounce in the polls for it. But we are still 18 months away from the election. Rush Limbaugh said it best today. "You can't put Osama Bin Laden in your gas tank." It will continue to be the economy, especially as the buzz wears off  between now and the election.

As I wrote on my Townhall blog:
Liberals fiercely attacked George W. Bush for his aggressive military and intelligence policies, turning on him and the best interests of the country after 9/11 when the world needed to see a united front from us. Liberalism gave us anti-war protests and anti-nuke protests which have hampered every president since Lyndon Johnson from effectively conducting foreign policy and trying to defeat enemies whose morale is easily boosted from watching images of Americans tearing down their own on TV.

These people have proven themselves to be doves and pacifists of convenience. When they were able to defeat the conservative movement and finally elect a true liberal, suddenly the protests stopped despite a ramping up of military efforts in Afghanistan, aggressive military operations in areas where piracy is an issue, a military assault on Libya and now the attacks within the sovereign borders of Pakistan with predator drones and Special Forces. They really were never anti-war. They were just anti-conservative.

When “their guy” used the type of military force that they were once so quick to rally around flag burning ceremonies to decry when a Republican was in office, their protĂ©gĂ©s - the liberal students of today – poured out into the street in front of the White House to suddenly become these great flag waving patriots celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden. For a moment in time, these students got to feel the pride and thrill of what conservatives feel every day whether in power or out. But, put a Republican in the White House and watch these liberals flip back to being angry protestors that call out American imperialism.

For conservatives, it’s about our country regardless of who happens to occupy the White House at the time. Conservatives don’t wave the flag when it’s convenient and burn it when it’s not. When we feel that pride and get that thrill of watching our country use its might to bring an evil enemy to justice, we are not going to destroy our intellectual honesty by toning down our feelings because “their guy” happens to be in the White House. We won World War II under a Democratic president, remember?

The Democrats didn’t win World War II. The Republicans didn’t win the Cold War. The Democrats didn’t kill Osama bin Laden. America did. We, all of us - including the commie pinko flag burners turned flag wavers – reveled in bin Laden’s death. Only conservatives didn’t have to change stripes to do it. America is not an exceptional nation whose collective heart swells with pride only when a liberal leads us to victory. It is exceptional all the time.
Rush Limbaugh explains how, despite his liberal ways, Obama was able to pull off the Bin Laden operation:

Stephen Clark of Fox News writes:
George W. Bush got the biggest bump after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a 35 percent increase that lasted for two years. Franklin D. Roosevelt got an 11 percent increase for nearly a year after Pearl Harbor. And George H.W. Bush received a 23 percent increase for about 10 months after the Gulf War began.

Bill Clinton went on to defeat Bush in 1992 with the famous campaign slogan, "It's the economy, stupid."

Republicans say it'll be the economy again that dominates the election.

Doug Heye, a former spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said that while the nation is focused on the still-emerging details about the death of Bin Laden, economic pain lingers.
We applaud President Obama for making the decision to raid the compound and kill Bin Laden. But at the end of the day, the 2012 election will rest on the economy.

WE GOT HIM!

Osama bin Laden is dead

President George W. Bush September 20, 2001:
Great harm has been done to us. We have suffered great loss. And in our grief and anger we have found our mission and our moment. Freedom and fear are at war. The advance of human freedom -- the great achievement of our time, and the great hope of every time -- now depends on us. Our nation -- this generation -- will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future. We will rally the world to this cause by our efforts, by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.
We did not tire. We did not falter and we did not fail.

You can read George W. Bush's statement tonight here.

This is a great testament to the American military and to our intelligence operations. We have proven once again that we are a great nation.

Congratulations to President Obama for his focus on killing Obama. While I take exception to the one line in his speech where he stated "no matter what god you pray to," we are Americans and we will celebrate our victory as a nation, a God loving nation. It was the only line that prevented it from being a perfect speech.

The God I pray to gave us His only begotten Son. Without that, we would never have the moral fortitude to have the respect for life and the outrage at the disregard for life that al Queda and Osama bin Laden has demonstrated in their ongoing war against us.

This is not a a war against Islam. It is a war against cold blooded killers. I agree with President Obama on that. Does Islam think the same?

God bless America. It's a great night. We got him!
