The Media and Palin: It's Become An Unhealthy Obsession

This morning's NBC interview with Joe McGinniss proves that the mainstream (lamestream) media continues with their unhealthy obsession over Sarah Palin. Their omission of Sarah Palin's statement responding to his appearance also demonstrates their continued bias. She sent the statement rather than consent to an interview because she didn't want this to become a media circus that used her as a ratings pawn. Palin obviously wanted to state her concerns in her original posting on Facebook and move on. She did elaborate on the posting on Glenn Beck's and Sean Hannity's radio shows, but took the position that it was just another obstacle that she would need to overcome if she was going to work for the conservative cause. Yet, the media continues to go after her and give McGinniss a forum to explain why he, a notorious Palin hit-piece writer, moved in next door to her. The obsession is beyond the sick.

We know why Joe McGinniss moved in next door to the Palins. He wants to write a hit book on her to coincide with all the other liberal hit books that the left believes will be necessary to discredit her leading into the 2012 presidential primaries. Now that the smear technique is as obvious as a sonic boom, the left has abandoned their hidden agenda of having mainstream media people pen anti-Palin op eds and critique her "failures" during interviews in the 2008 presidential campaign or play up the frivolous ethics complaints that were filed against her while governor of Alaska. Instead, they're just letting it all hang out.

They know we know they hate her. So what. They just want to keep fanning the flames hoping people will be rattled enough to not stiffen their spines and stand up for her. It's a shame to hear even an ardent Palin supporter say she shouldn't run in 2012 "not because Palin is incapable of being an impactful politician, but because she has been profoundly hindered by the left's hateful and perplexing obsession with demeaning and destroying her at all costs."

That's not "we win, you lose." That's more like "we give up, you win."

Why do you think they are attacking her supporters now as "dumb?" It's no longer the media versus Palin. It's the media versus Palin and her supporters. And with this, they are finding new resolve because some supporters or potential supporters are not as strong as Sarah is. If you can't kill the queen bee then kill all the drones instead and cut off its source of food.

If anything, this should strengthen our resolve to see to it that she does win. If Americans who are sick of big government and radical liberalism are afraid of the arrows than we cannot possibly be strong enough to govern. We, not Sarah Palin, need to grow a set and realize that this woman will go to the mat for us. We should be willing to do the same for her.

She could have went home to Wasilla and collected hefty speaking and writing fees and abandoned us. She didn't. There is a stalker living next door. Daily, Palin is rhetorically accosted by a hostile media who have nothing on her except for the fact that they disagree with her politics. She was beaten to a pulp by Alaska Bloggers, yet she got up, recovered and went on to take the reigns of her movement. Her followers were already there and she got back up after her resignation and busted her ass going cross country to meet them.

Did she make money along the way? Yeah. But every true blue Sarah supporter who plunked down their hard earned cash for her book knew that it would only make her stronger and only better position her financially to pay the bills caused by the bullcrap that the left threw at her in Alaska. Sarah wasn't cashing in on us, she was upping the ante on them.

Did the revolutionaries give up because they were afraid of being branded traitors by the British media or because tories would say mean things about them at cocktail parties?

This media obsession is going to result in one of two things: either the obsession will lead to her death, politically speaking, or it will turn her into a modern day heroine after she metaphorically burns them in their beds. We watch as Sarah, once metaphorically bloodied and beaten by the media monstrosity, now comes at them strong and ready. She is not the damsel in distress that Steve Schmidt and some of McCain's campaign operatives would not help. She is a wild eyed grizzly who has survived one beating and is now being pushed to the limits again.

It is not a healthy thing that's happening. This battle between Sarah Palin and the mainstream media is going to have a hyperbolically bloody ending. Someone is going to get hurt. We need to all stand up for what's right and realize why Sarah continuously cries out to us on her Facebook page. She needs us to know what they are doing to her.

Credibility is the only "ability" we cannot give ourselves. For Sarah, it must come from others recognizing the truth in what she says. She needs us to give her the credibility that will give her words weight. In return, she will get our country back for us. But only if we are courageous enough to help her.

Ronald Reagan Threatens "The Narrative" Again

This blogger believes the most important contribution that I can make to the conservative cause is to be one of many numbers - numbers which must grow in order to achieve our ultimate goal: returning America back to the people who truly understand the Constitution and what has to be done to make our nation great and exceptional again. As one of many who do this by educating our readers, each other and non-believers simultaneously, I'm not only comforted, but excited to see that there are so many out there who see what I see and what Ronald Reagan saw. Which is why, when reading Josh Painter's latest post, I couldn't help but be blown away by the keen and exact picture xMadMike drew - a picture in words that could not be clearer if it was placed on a 1000 mega-pixel flat screen TV.

Painter's reference to xMadMike's post brings it out front and provides us with an important educational read with a precise explanation of the dangerous narrative which liberals and progressives have been trying to get Americans to believe since the beginning of their movements. If you read The Shadow Party and you also look at The 50 Year Strategy, it all makes sense. The liberals, progressives and radicals have been "fundamentaly transforming America" for years by infiltrating the media, the pop culture and the halls of power.

The historical parallels between Ronald Reagan and Sarah Palin are glaring. While Sarah Palin is her own person, understanding her requires one to understand Ronald Reagan. Having come into adulthood at the beginning of Reagan's presidency at the same time as Sarah Palin (we are the same age), it is our common view of Reagan's greatness which is the connection between me the supporter and Sarah the leader.

No one sets out to be the "next Reagan." But they do set out to be like him. Reagan created the blueprint for keeping America strong both domestically and internationally. Many in the Republican party have strayed from that blueprint. As such, they have suffered the wrath of the people the way Bush the father and Bush the son have. This is not to say they didn't believe in Ronald Reagan - they did. They just did not execute on Reagan's philosophy properly. Those who have stuck closest to the Reagan philosophy have had the most political success.

If people are to be their own people and if someone is going to chart a political course in the modern era, simply copying cold war theory and supply side economics is not going to save the GOP. It's the full and total embracement of Reagan's spirit which contributes to how well one can do in today's political climate. Developing the same philosophical, ethical and intellectual core that Reagan had and demonstrating that in your own unique way while applying it to modern problems and solutions is the key to Sarah Palin's greatness.

Americans want a leader that will motivate them to act and make them feel confident and patriotic. They thought they had that in Barack Obama. With his fiery speeches and "messianic" promises, Americans were excited that the horrors of war and economic uncertainty could be behind us. But when Obama failed to deliver on that excitement, rather than return to the usually cynical point of apathy and political disenchantment, Americans rose up and formed the Tea party movement. They embraced a positive message of real change and set out to do what the Founders of our nation would have wanted them to do: become self reliant and unite behind the cause of freedom.

The movement was built bottom up. Yet the philosophy and vision are definitely top down from our Founders through Reagan. There are some still uncertain about Palin's future in this movement. Having been scorched by the failures of Obama, having had their hearts broken by the falling of Mark Sanford and having become generally skiddish of a mainstream media that continues to vilify Palin to this day, it's hard to expect those so jilted to succumb to "political love" again.

But, I have seen it in the eyes of the people at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis in 2008. I have read it in the writings of Palin supporters since the day she was chosen to run on the ticket. I have heard Sarah Palin herself weave the spirit and fabric of Reagan's existence into her own Alaskan accented style. I was not looking that hard for the next Reagan because I never thought I'd find him (or her).

In fact, I questioned whether comparing her to Reagan was political blasphemy at first.

And its because of this, I know it's not wishful thinking. I was not a "political romantic" in 2008. In fact, I was quite the opposite. I was very cynical. I was very demoralized. I felt as if I was watching the beginning of the thousand years of darkness Reagan warned us of. Each Republican candidate had a component of Reagan, but not one was Reagan. I understood that and I've been accepting that since 1988.

When Palin hit the scene, my first reaction wasn't "oh wow, this is the one we've been waiting for." My first reaction was "this is too good to be true, where's the gotcha?" I could have crumbled like a lawn chair the minute the media started smearing her. I could have cut and run when Troopergate hit. Instead, I researched her. If anything, the media lost its credibility in being able to sway me when I realized what they were saying was totally untrue. Palin won me over. The media just helped harden my resolve with their lies and smears.

I watched her speech in Minneapolis on TV and was just as mesmerized as those in the crowd not because I wanted to be mesmerized, but because I saw Ronald Reagan's spirit fill that room. I saw a look in the people's eyes that I have only seen when Reagan spoke. I saw a look in Todd's eyes that I have only seen in Nancy's.

I will probably get beat on for writing this post. But let's be real. If it took an outsider who took on the establishment, was smeared by the media and who rose to power by tenacity and a truly benevolent desire to save his country from the madness of liberalism, which the Carter administration came to symbolize, how could it be any different for what's required to save this country from the madness of the radicalism that the current Obama administration symbolizes?

Some sweat Palin's viability in a national election. The media has figured out that even if we know they lie, they are still able to place enough doubts in the peoples' heads that they may not pick Palin to be the GOP nominee and spare them the threat of having their liberal "narrative" destroyed. If the media squeaks by with a Gingrich, Huckabee or Romney presidency, they will consider that a win. Opposition is easier to deal with than destruction.

It is important to point out that people felt the same way about Ronald Reagan, even after he got the nomination in 1980. It wasn't until after the "There you go again" debate on September 24, 1980, that those who were not dedicated followers began to really take him seriously. Just as today's GOP insider elitists complain that we can't put a hockey mom from Wasilla at the top of the ticket, so yesterday's GOP insider elitists fretted about doing the same with a B grade movie actor.

It should give those skeptical of Palin's chances something to think about. If the media can bash you and make fun of you for starring in a movie with a chimpanzee and you can still make it to the White House, seeing "Russia from my house" shouldn't be that big of a deal considering Palin never actually said that.

Let's just hope Palin doesn't cut it as close as Reagan did. Winning over the people just a mere six weeks away from the election is not my idea of keeping my blood pressure low or my fingernails long. Recognize that not everyone is going to see what Palin supporters see right away. Palin is working hard to convince them and I believe she will. I just don't know how long its going to take and how much damage Barack Obama is going to have to do to the country before the fence sitters finally get up and say "give the lady a try."

Glorious Day: The Media Complains 'Palin Trying to Undermine Us'

Who would have thought during the campaign of 2008 when the media was quoting lying malcontents in Alaska as fact about book burning, religious extremism, rape kits, etc. (we all know the plethora of lies the media has been telling about Sarah Palin since day 1) that there would ever be the day when the media would complain about Sarah Palin smearing them and undermining them! How sweet is it to hear liberal journalists complain about Fox News and to point out Palin's numerous quotes criticizing the media?

Michael Crowley of Time took to his blog to complain that Joe McGinniss moving in next door to Palin only helps her and conservatives demonize the press.

Which leads to what really bothers me about McGinniss's gimmick. It is bad for journalism. It plays right into the hands of the many people—including Sarah Palin, who is shrewdly ridiculing McGinniss—with an interest in portraying reporters as creeps with no sense of decency. Journalism faces a credibility crisis, and reporters' motives are under attack by outlets like Fox News, Media Matters and a thousand merciless blogs.

Is that funny or what?

How often have we spoken of merciless Alaska blogs and the piling on of frivolous ethics complaint after frivolous ethics complaint, each of course with an accompanying news story hit piece by the AP or the Huffington Post attached? How often have we watched MSNBC reporters trash Sarah Palin? How often have we read hit pieces about her in major "mainstream" publications?

The relationship between the media and Sarah Palin has been an abusive one. The media is like the bad husband who is obsessed with his wife but doesn't respect her, believe her or trust her. Instead he beats her and demeans her. After a while friends and neighbors come to the aid of the woman, but the woman is strong and the day comes where she gets her revenge against the bastard.

After over a year of being beaten and humiliated, the battered wife takes a chair and smashes it over the head of the "husband" who lays bleeding on the floor. And when the cops come, the husband points at her and says "she hit me, she was merciless."

Of course Sarah Palin is trying to undermine the media. What do you expect? They beat the poor woman to a pulp. They ruined her reputation, even today in some circles. They were totally unfair to her and her family.

Guess what, media? You didn't kill her. And because you didn't kill her, she is a grizzly that has reared herself up on her hind legs and she's coming for you. Do you know what happens if you anger a grizzly and you can't kill it? It kills you.

How sweet it is to watch my mantra, my rallying cry of "the media lies" being pounded home so effectively by the one for whom I cry it.

Outrage: Obama Stiffs Virginia and Rest of Nation on Drilling

In my Townhall blog post today, I express my outrage at Our Backward Thinking President who has just stiffed America (and Virginia in particular) on oil leases which could have played an important role in positioning us for economic recovery and moving us closer toward energy independence over the course of the next four years. It is no longer enough that we just campaign for what we believe is right: smaller government, stronger national defense, energy independence and a general lifting of America's spirits similar to what we saw when Reagan was president. We must speak out and campaign against everything that this destructive president is doing to our great nation.

Whether Obama has good intentions and is just not up to the job or whether he is a socialist radical plant who has infiltrated our government to transform America into a European socialist democracy, it doesn't matter. The consequences of what this man is doing to the country is the bottom line. And that bottom line is a disaster.

This blogger can no longer pull any punches or work for positive change unless removal of the obstacle that prevents America's resurgence is part of that process whether it be through impeachment due to the Sestak job bribery situation or whether it be done through the ballot box in 2012. Cancelling oil leases, doing backroom deals to get unpopular health care reform passed, humiliating America by apologizing for it on foreign soil and offering a Senate candidate a high level job in exchange for his not running against a Democrat party establishment candidate is flat out unacceptable and needs to be stopped as quickly as legally possible.

When a liberal minority ran a popular Alaska governor out of office that was the height of indecency. But a national majority who now finds its president unfit for service must take to the removal of Barack Obama with the same vigilance and intensity, albeit for the right reasons this time.

We are the loyal opposition, loyal to our Constitution and the greatness upon which this nation was founded. In that loyalty we must resist the current administration in Washington at all costs except those that are illegal or violent.

I'm not a birther nor am I a conspiracy theorist who believes Obama is an al Qaeda plant. But, if liberal tactics of isolating the target and marginalizing it work then lets do it. Let's finally beat them at their own damn game and give the board back over to the adults who can establish proper rules and civil discourse in the arena of ideas. Until then, let's rock and work on getting enough people to support the cause of liberty and prosperity by convincing them what a disaster this administration is.

Enough is enough.

The time to stop the madness is now.

Rahm, is that a smoking gun or are you just not that happy to see me? (Updated)

Around the time of President Obama's inauguration, I told a friend of mine that if I had to guess who the first big scandal of the Obama administration would be it would have to be Rahm Emanuel. His style as a Chicago politician had thug written all over it. I smelled something when Blagojevich was charged with selling Obama's Senate seat. Rahm discussed that seat with Blago although no wrongdoing on Emanuel's part was ever proven. Emanuel may be in a little more hot water this time.

If your political enemy is an Alaskan, you would call it an iceberg. If your political enemy is Hawaiin, you would have to call it a tsunami, right? Well, the water is a rolling after this piece by Marc Ambinder and this one by Bill Dupray. Dupray cites Ambinder:

Well, somebody seems to have leaked to Marc Ambinder that Rahm Emanuel was the guy who may have bribed Joe Sestak with a sweet job if Sestak walked away from the Pennsylvania Senate race with Specter. In his headline, Ambinder (only half-jokingly) refers to Dick Durbin as the “next Chief of Staff.”

The oil that keeps pouring into the Gulf of Mexico may not be the only leak President Obama can't plug.

More and more, fingers are pointing at Rahm. Is this one that won't make it past the Axelrod erasor?

If and when administration officials meet with Emanuel to have the "plausible deniability" discussion, will that event be followed by a falling on one's sword or will Rahm sing like Beverly Sills? What kind of a cloud will this put over the Obama administration? What did the president know and when did he know it?

Nothing is Going to Stop Sarah Palin

Not even a creep moving in next door. Listen to what she says at the 4:30 mark.

Sarah Palin let out a little Freudian slip that Palin fans will like. She said "we're in this race until the end." She alludes later in the interview to a commitment to do good for the country.

I submit to you, ladies and gentlemen, that the question is not "will she run?" She's already running.

Stalking Sarah Palin

Hit piece writer Joe McGinniss is writing a hit book on Sarah Palin. So he decided to move in next door to her. For those who don't know who Joe McGinniss is, just Google Joe McGinniss Sarah Palin and read some of the crap this loon has written about her. It's a little creepy to think that a guy who is part of the left wing smear campaign is stalking Sarah Palin this way.

Sarah Palin was upset about this and wrote Glenn Beck an email last night, which he read on his radio program today. Needless to say, Glenn Beck is pissed.

Palin also wrote about it on Facebook today.

It's apparent the left still thinks the smear campaign is the way to go. In addition to McGinniss, Geoffrey Dunn of the Huffington Post is also writing a hit book on her. The liberals are preparing for 2012.

But this is a little over the top.

Getting Under the Skin of Robert Gibbs

Governor Palin must be getting under the skin of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

Sarah Palin on Fox News Sunday:

Well, I think that there is perhaps a hesitancy to — I don't really know how to put this, Chris, except to say that the oil companies who have so supported President Obama in his campaign and are supportive of him now — I don't know why the question isn't asked by the mainstream media and by others if there's any connection with the contributions made to President Obama and his administration and the support by the oil companies to the administration.

If there's any connection there to President Obama taking so doggone long to get in there, to dive in there, and grasp the complexity and the potential tragedy that we are seeing here in the Gulf of Mexico — now, if this was President Bush or if this were a Republican in office who hadn't received as much support even as President Obama has from B.P. and other oil companies, you know the mainstream media would be all over his case in terms of asking questions why the administration didn't get in there, didn't get in there and make sure that the regulatory agencies were doing what they were doing with the oversight to make sure that things like this don't happen.

Robert Gibbs responded:

"My suggestion to Sarah Palin would be to get slightly more informed as to what's going on in and around oil drilling in this country," Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on CBS' "Face the Nation."

"Sarah Palin was involved in [the 2008] election, but I don't think, apparently, [she] was paying a whole lot of attention," he told host Bill Schieffer. "I'm almost sure that the oil companies don't consider the Obama administration a huge ally - we proposed a windfall profits tax when they jacked their oil prices up to charge for gasoline."

Sheya at Conservatives4Palin points out:

Governor Palin didn’t dispute the fact that McCain received more from the oil and gas industries in the whole than did Obama. This disaster was not caused by the oil and gas industries, but by BP and BP alone, and it is from BP alone that Obama received the biggest chunk of all their political contributions. It is reasonable to demand questions be asked about the coziness of the Obama administration to BP.

Once again we have a case of the Lamestream media covering up for the Obama administration while not “listening” to what Governor Palin really said.

Josh Painter at Texas4Palin stands over Robert Gibbs as he lays flat on the canvas, apparently the victim of a rhetorical right hook in response to his left hand jab at Sarah Palin:

The Thrilla from Wasilla decks Beltway Bob in round three. One can almost hear the voice of the late Howard Cosell, "Down goes Gibbs! Down goes Gibbs!"

Gov. Palin wasted no time in firing back. She tweeted:

"Mr. Gibbs, BP gave over $3.5mill to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with with the largest amount going to Obama"

Moments later, she sent another tweet:

"During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama received a total of $77,051 from the oil giant and is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years... Dispute these facts."

Both tweets contained embedded links to a Politico article which cited data from the Center for Responsible Politics:

BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.

...

Boom! The Palin Blackberry leaves a mark. Gov. Palin is so living inside the White House that they should be charging her rent.

Allow me to weigh in on this as well.

Robert Gibbs has been a joke since day one. With his inimitable style of responding to questions with "I'll get back to you with more information on that" or "I'll find out that answer for you and let you know," he continues to be the White House's master of noninformation.

Friends and I have been laughing at his almost "Porky Pig" stuttering style of responding to tough questions. Gibbs is the master of the "rope-a-dope" and also could be a formidable contestant on "Dancing with the Stars."

His response to Palin was typical Alinsky, left wing chicanery.

Instead of refuting her statement and explaining why the mainstream media is applying a double standard to the Obama administration as opposed to how it would have handled a Bush administration in a situation like this, AND answering the question why BP contributed so much to the Obama campaign in light of the fact that there were regulatory exemptions provided them, the press secretary takes the quick way out.

The quick and simple answer for liberals is "she's uninformed." That really explains it now, doesn't it Gibbsy? Once again, another non-answer.

Mr. Labrador, your baby is crying

Thousands are at the Qwest Arena to see Sarah Palin speak and stump for Vaughn Ward. Sarah Palin is good at two things. She brings out the best in good people and the worst in bad people.

Today's worst is coming from a supporter of Vaughn Ward's opponent Raul Labrador. Lucas Baumbach, a state senate candidate, is crying like a baby, kicking and screaming like some kid you see in Walmart next to the really embarrassed lady holding the binky because Sarah Palin is backing his opponent according to Talking Points Memo.

Of course TPM is playing this up. It's not surprising that they have decided to do what all good liberals do: find a malcontent miserable sack who is bashing Sarah Palin and do a story on it. America has its fair share of miserable sacks. All miserable sacks of (fill in your own word here) bash Palin because they can't stand success and they can't stand seeing other people be successful.

Be certain there will be other left wing toilet paper manufacturing outlets that will play this up. No lefty loves a "tea bagger" - unless of course they're bashing Sarah Palin.

But give credit where credit is due. TPM did update the story to point out that Raul Labrador issued a statement to his supporters asking them to stop bashing Sarah Palin.

Today's best is Labrador who comes off as the adult here as well as the gracious opponent. By expressing his honest disappointment that Palin didn't back him, he gives more credence to his candidacy and demonstrates that when Republicans disagree they can do so agreeably and not look like the whackos on the left who go into convulsions everytime Palin does something. Nor should the right wing blogosphere turn into or act like some highly paid media talk show host who delves deep into the research budget and skillfully crafts words to support his opposition to Sarah Palin with facts, maturity and the poetic and deeply thought provoking lyric verse "that woman is an idiot."

We are in primary battles. Some of us are going to support one candidate. Others are going to support their opponent. Primaries are the time to duke it out - a process which Palin has said helps make the GOP a stronger party. If the GOP is going to be the strongest party that it can be and put up the most tested and vetted candidates then we need to remember Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.

When the smoke clears and 2010 is settled, we are going to have to unite and take back our once beautiful city on a hill. I would hope the people who don't feel as strongly about Palin as I do who are in the foxhole with me will be more like Labrador and less like Baumbach who, if he was with my unit, should be the one who goes first to draw the enemy's fire.
